Vitra Design Campus
In summer 2019, on our way to Italy, we made a stop-over in Weil am Rhein for a visit to the Vitra Design Campus. The site is like a theme park for architects, featuring works from world renowned architects. The fire station is the first ever realised building by Zaha Hadid, there’s a design museum and a production hall by Frank Gehry and buildings and pavillions by a.o. Nicholas Grimshaw, Richard Buckminster Fuller, SANAA, Tadao Ando, Álvaro Siza and Renzo Piano. The heart of the campus is the spectacular set of stacked houses by Herzog & de Meuron, forming the VitraHaus.
